Pre-departure Checklist
Here is a checklist of some of the key things that you should think about as you prepare to come to MDI:
- Ensure that your funding for the year is in place
- Documentation from your International Office
- Health/Travel insurance (Please check with your co-ordinator to see if insurance is provided for your study abroad)
- Please ensure that all of your travel and financial arrangements are finalised before departure
Arriving at the Institute
Orientation will be provided during the first week of your semester. Once registered your timetable will also be finalised and student ID card issued. This will enable you to get discounts on travel etc.
How to find us
Mater Dei Institute benefits from being centrally located. It is within sight of Croke Park and a 10-15 minute walk from O'Connell Street. It is located on Clonliffe Road, in Drumcondra, just off the main road from the city centre out to the airport.
Buses to use
Northbound from O'Connell Street (opposite Gresham Hotel):
3, 11, 11A, 11B, 13A, 16, 16A, 746.
Northbound from Lower Abbey Street:
33, 41, 41A, 41B, 41C, 51A.
Get off bus at Lower Drumcondra Road (junction with Clonliffe Road). Cross Lower Drumcondra Road to the beginning of Clonliffe Road. Continue along the left side of Clonliffe Road. The Mater Dei entrance is situated about 200 yards along this road.
Trains
Most trains from Connolly Station (Dublin to Maynooth line) stop at Drumcondra Station. This Station is just around the corner from the Institute. Exit Drumcondra Station, then cross Lower Drumcondra Road to the beginning of Clonliffe Road. Continue along the left side of Clonliffe Road. The Mater Dei entrance is situated about 200 yards along this road.
