Launch of NAIRTL's 2010 Grants Initiative

Last year's Grants Initiative saw 37 projects being supported and finances disbursed across eleven Higher Education Institutions in Ireland. This initiative aims to enhance the third and fourth level experience by supporting innovative research activities relating to the integration of research, teaching and learning. Successful projects from 2009 include the development of animations to aid student learning, the implementation of a peer learning programme for students, and the establishment of an undergraduate journal. It is a beautiful celebration in song and story of the birth of Christ. We will have the choirs of the Institute, the Mater Dei Chorale and the Schola Cantorum, and the Artane Band. MDI Graduated Students
Graduation Day 2009

Graduation in the Institute took place on Friday November 20th. The Graduation Mass was presided over by Dr. Diarmuid Martin, Archbishop of Dublin, and the degrees and awards were conferred by Prof. Ferdinand von Prondzynski, the President of DCU. Awards related to 12 graduation groups representing 8 programmes. There are 117 graduates including the Institute’s first doctoral award in theology. The Institute presently has 750 students. These seminars honour the celebrated former Head of English at the College, John Devitt, who sadly passed away in 2007. A particularly fine and knowledgeable teacher of poetry, Devitt is celebrated in these occasional seminars in which speakers are invited to talk about a poem of their own choice, and in which lively audience participation is guaranteed.
