The Introduction of the Teenager: Church responses to Youth Subculture, 1956-1973

On Monday 23 November at 6.30pm the third Irish Studies Seminar of this semester will take place at MDI. The speaker will be Carole Holohan of University College Dublin.

Carole Holohan's PhD explores the place of youth in Irish culture during the 1960s. Her publications include an article on youth and the commemorations of the 1916 Rising in 1966 which appeared in Mary E. Daly and Margaret O'Callaghan (eds), 1916 in 1966 (Royal Irish Academy, 2007). Carole Holohan's talk on this occasion will focus on Church responses, particularly in Dublin, to the emergence of the teenager.
