Library
Welcome to the Library
MDI Library holds books and journals supporting the teaching, learning and research needs of the Institute's students and staff. Our principal subject coverage includes education, English, ethics, history, Irish studies, music, philosophy and theology. Our core collection comprises around 35,000 monographs and 100 print journals. We also have substantial special collections on restricted access.
The Library was renovated in 2007 with the installation of a state-of-the-art issue desk, and the opening up of a mezzanine area which allows natural light to permeate the whole Library space through characteristic stained glass windows. Facilities include seating for just over 100 readers (including 12 networked PCs and 69 laptop points), two networked printers, wireless access for mobile devices, two dedicated catalogue terminals and a photocopy room.
Our higher use print collections are housed on the ground floor which features our reference, lending and periodicals sections. Additional material can be retrieved from our reserve stacks.
Staff and students of Dublin City University and St. Patrick's College are welcome to use MDI Library to consult our print resources, but not to borrow.
