Student Facilities & Services
There are a wide range of services available to students in Mater Dei.
ICT Facilities
Students of the Institute can avail of a wide variety of ICT facilities, including a personal email account, high-speed internet access, multimedia editing facilities and e-learning facilities to name but a few. MDI has an excellent computer:student ratio, as well as a wireless network that students can connect to using their laptops throughout the Institute.
Medical/Counselling
A doctor is available to all undergraduate students students free of charge.
A counselling service is also available.
Chaplaincy Services
Students of the Institute have the services of a full-time College Chaplain who is available to support them in their personal lives in a confidential manner. The Chaplain also encourages students to make the link between personal life and professional study through the organisation of daily liturgy, retreats, justice outreaches, pastoral care and personal development. The link with faith and justice is nourished through exposure to the developing world, - Kenya, Zambia and India, where students get a chance to visit these countries and work alongside those most in need. There are also local outreach projects like a homework club, Vincent de Paul Society and Gospel Choir Masses in the local parish. Pilgrimages are organised to Rome, The Holy Land, Taize, the Camino in Spain and to ancient pilgrimage sites all over Ireland. The Chaplain also works closely with and encourages the "Margaret Hassan Social Awareness Group" in its work in the Institute.
Library
The Library supports all areas of study with an extensive range of books, journals, pamphlets and photocopies. More information on the Library can be found here.
Canteen
There is an on-campus canteen that provides affordable breakfasts, lunches and snacks.
Accommodation
MDI is a non-residential college; however, there is ample accommodation available in the immediate area with everything from apartments, houses and student digs to choose from.
For programme entry in September 2009, an accommodation list will be made available when students receive a firm offer of a place in MDI. This usually happens around the third week of August. Once the written offer of a place has been received, students may access the updated accommodation list on our website using their CAO number.
There are a limited number of student apartments available on the DCU campus for Mater Dei students. For more information visit www.roomsatdcu.com.
