The Unexpected Orientalists: The fascinating story of two sisters who journeyed to St. Catherine's monastery, Mount Sinai in 1892, and found a priceless Gospel manuscript.

Prof. Janet Soskice, University of Cambridge
Janet Soskice was born in western Canada, and studied at Cornell University, and the Universities of Sheffield and Oxford. She is currently Professor of Philosophical Theology at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of Jesus College. Janet has been a Visiting Professor at Uppsala, McCarthy Visiting Professor at the Gregorian University in Rome, was the first women to be President of the Catholic Theological Association of Great Britain, and is currently President of the Society for the Study of Theology. Janet is the author of Metaphor and Religious Language (O.U.P. 1984) and The Kindness of God (OUP, 2008). Her most recent book, Sisters of Sinai: how two lady adventurers found the hidden gospels (London: Chatto and New York: Knopf, 2009).
